Overnight Cherry Almond Steel-Cut Oatmeal

This flat-belly breakfast recipe packs in a double-punch of nutrition with steel-cut oats, which are a high-fiber food, and tart cherries, which contain the highest amount of anti-inflammatory properties of any food. Preparing the ingredients for a slow cooker is minimal, leaving you more time to hit the gym and get rid of belly fat.

Stir in pumpkin puree or applesauce before cooking for a unique flavor and nutrition blast.

Cook time: 8 hours

Yield: 4 servings

1 cup steel-cut oats

3 cups unsweetened almond milk

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup dried tart cherries, unsweetened

1/3 cup sliced almonds

  1. Liberally coat a slow cooker with cooking spray.

  2. In the slow cooker, combine the oatmeal, almond milk, applesauce, almond extract, and tart cherries.

  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 8 hours.

  4. To serve, top with sliced almonds.
