Changing Chatter Preferences in Salesforce.com
Under the My Settings menu in Salesforce.com is the Chatter section. Here you can manage your Chatter feed settings and choose how frequently Salesforce sends you Chatter email notifications.
When you follow records on Chatter, Salesforce sends updates to your Chatter feed when someone modifies the record. You can follow any record that your administrator enables for Chatter, such as accounts, cases, or contacts. To automatically follow records you create, follow these steps:
On the My Settings page, click Chatter.
The section expands.
Click My Feeds.
The My Feeds page appears where you can configure your Chatter feed settings.
Click the Automatically Follow Records That I Create check box, and click Save.
You now have this setting enabled for your users.
You also have flexibility when it comes to the frequency of emails you receive following any kind of Chatter activity. You can receive emails when someone follows you, posts to a group you’re a part of, mentions you in a post, and more.
The default is set to be more inclusive than exclusive, so if you don’t want lots of Chatter email in your inbox, follow these steps:
Under My Settings in the sidebar, choose Chatter→Email Notifications.
The Email Notifications page appears with all your options for receiving emails.
Check or uncheck any of the check boxes to opt out of or into receiving emails.
When you’re finished, click Save.
The My Settings page reappears.
