Work with Notifications in the Cover Sheet on Your iPad
On your iPad, you will receive notifications on your Cover Sheet when a message has been received or you’ve missed a FaceTime call, for example. You can respond to notifications in several ways. You’ll need to begin by swiping down from the top of your screen to open Cover Sheet.
You don’t have to unlock your iPad if you’re viewing your lock screen; just tap and drag down from the Status bar to view Cover Sheet.
- Tap an item, and you’re taken to the originating app, where you can take the appropriate action: create and send a return message, initiate a FaceTime call, or whatever. Swiping from left to right on a notification and tapping the Open button produces the same affect.
If you’re on the lock screen, you’ll have to use Touch ID or enter your passcode to view the notification in its app.
- Swiping from right to left on a notification will yield two options: Clear and View.
- Tap Clear to remove the notification from the Cover Sheet. No worries, though: The item is still available for viewing in its originating app.
- Tap View to open a window in Cover Sheet offering an expanded view of the notification, as shown. Tap the X to clear the notification, tap the notification window to open the notification in its app, or tap outside the notification window to return to the Cover Sheet.
