Set Up a Free Hootsuite Account to Optimize Your Social Media Presence

Hootsuite is a popular social media management and publishing tool that helps you optimize your social media presence. It comes in several versions: a fully functional free version that works for most people, a pro version that’s good for small businesses, and an enterprise version that works best for large organizations.

Hootsuite can save you a ton of time with features that enable you to manage multiple accounts, track basic analytics, and schedule posts. Hootsuite supports Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Foursquare, and LinkedIn. With the free account, you can use Hootsuite to manage three accounts. For those willing to invest a bit more in exchange for more features, Hootsuite offers a variety of professional level premium packages, starting at $8.95 a month.

Follow these steps to get started with Hootsuite:

  1. Open your browser, and go to Hootsuite.

  2. Click the Sign Up button.

    A page where you select the type of plan you want displays.

  3. Select the free plan by clicking the Get Started Now button in the Free column of the plan table.

    The Signup page opens.

  4. Add your personal details, and click the Create Account button.

  5. When prompted, add your social networks, and click the Continue button.

    Add at least one account now; you can always add more later.

  6. Click the Done Adding Social Networks button.

    Your Hootsuite dashboard loads in your browser, and you’re offered a tour to help you get started using the tool.

After creating a Hootsuite account through your web browser, download the Hootsuite app for your iOS or Android mobile device so you can manage your accounts while on the go.
