How to Create and Edit Your Pinterest Profile

By Janine Warner, David LaFontaine

Although Pinterest doesn’t offer as many design options as some of the other social media sites, you can edit your profile after you create it. Follow these instructions to create a profile on Pinterest:

  1. Browse to Pinterest in your favorite web browser.

If you don’t already have an account on Pinterest, you have two options: sign up with your Facebook account or through e-mail.

The Follow 5 Boards to Get Started window opens.

  2. Choose a category from the left site of the Follow 5 Boards to Get Started window.

All the boards in that category displayed on the right of the window.

  3. Click the red Follow button to select a board.

You can select as many boards as you like, but Pinterest requires that you start with at least five.

  4. Click the red Follow button to select at least four more boards and then click the Next button at the top of the window.

The main Pinterest page opens with your selected boards displayed and also an overlay that offers a guided tour.

For a guided tour of Pinterest, click the red Take a Look Around button.

  5. Confirm your account by clicking the link in an e-mail message from Pinterest (sent to the e-mail address you entered when you registered).

Whether you just created a new account or you want to edit your profile in an existing account, click the small pencil icon (bottom right of your profile window). The rest is easy:

Pinterest, like other social media websites, changes its design and features on a regular basis.
