How to Change Your Google+ Privacy Settings

By Jesse Stay

Google understands that controlling your privacy is important to you, so Google+ was created with a number of privacy controls that let you dictate who can find you and who can tag you in photos, as well as a number of other options.

Follow these steps to edit your circle settings:

  1. Go to your main Google+ page and click the Profile button; then click Edit Profile.

Google+ puts you in Edit mode.

  2. Click one of the lists on the left (“In YourName‘s circles” or “Have YourName in circles.”)

A box appears with some options. Here, you can dictate who can see your circles and which lists will be visible to others on your profile. (If you haven’t circled anyone or no one has circled you, you may not see anyone in the left column!)

  3. Click the down arrow next to All Circles. Click the circles that you don’t want visible to those who visit your profile, causing the checkmark to disappear.

Click outside the drop-down box to close it.

  4. Click the radio button next to Your Circles if you want only those who are already in your circles to see your other circles.

  5. If you don’t want anyone to see the list of people you’ve circled, uncheck the Show People In box.

  6. Click Save to save your changes.
