What’s New with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge?
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are anticipated to hit the market in March of 2016. While the appearance is not much different from the previous model, the S7 and S7 Edge are packed with lots of great features. Available in black onyx and gold platinum, the new Samsung Galaxy will not disappoint.
With a 5.1-inch display for the S7 and a 5.5-inch display for the S7 Edge (compared to the 4.7-inch display of the iPhone 6S), the new Galaxy comes with an always-on display that remains illuminated for quick reference. Worried about battery life? Don’t be. This display will only use approximately one percent of your battery’s power and may even prolong battery life if it keeps you from constantly unlocking your phone just to check the time.
The new Galaxy phone also has improved camera features. Samsung has decided to add motion to the world of mobile photography. You can now take motion photos and motion panoramas. For the most part, these features work about the same. Your camera catches a few seconds of video along with your photo. This allows you to scrub along and find the perfect still image. With the motion panorama feature, you can catch a small moment with movement to give your image that special touch.
In an interesting move, Samsung has actually gone from a 16-megapixel camera with the S6 to a 12-megapixel camera on the S7. Why? With the addition of a slightly wider aperture and the increased light captured by the larger pixels, you actually get a better picture quality.
What other features can you expect with the new S7 and S7 Edge? Well, let’s take a look:
Water-resistant casing: Although not an entirely new feature, this one speaks for itself. You need not panic when your phone slips from your hand into water.
Micro SD slot: This makes it easy to expand your storage options without buying a new phone or pricey upgrades. It also makes transferring content that much easier. The card allows for up to 200 GB of storage.
Optional larger screen: The S7 sports a larger screen to augment your display. With a 5.5 inch screen, the S7 Edge also has a curved edge display.
Larger battery capacity: The new phone sports a 3,000 mAh battery (compared to 2,550 mAh for the previous model).
Wireless charging: Leave the cord at home because this one is fully primed for wireless charging.
Are you a dedicated gamer? The new Galaxy phone comes with an exclusive gaming mode which blocks notifications, making it easier to focus for those long, intense sessions without distractions. The new Samsung also makes it easy to connect your world. The S7 and S7 Edge are compatible with Gear VR, Level On headphones, and Gear S2.
