How to Search and Bookmark in Your iPad eReader
When you buy a book or magazine online, it downloads to your iPad in a few seconds using your Wi-Fi or 3G connection. After you’ve got your eReader app and some content, iPad offers several navigation tools to move around a book, two of which allow you to search the text and mark a page.
Searching in your book
You may want to find a certain sentence or reference in your book. To search for a word or phrase, follow these steps:
With the book displayed, tap the Search button (the magnifying glass).
Enter a search term and then tap the Search key on the keyboard.
Use your finger to scroll down the entries.
If you want, you can use the Search Google or Search Wikipedia buttons at the bottom of the Search dialog to search for information online.
You can also search for other instances of a particular word while in the book pages by pressing your finger on the word and tapping Search in the toolbar that appears.
Bookmarks in your eBooks are like favorites you save in your Web browser: They enable you to revisit a favorite page or refresh your memory about a character or plot point. Note that iBooks can retain these bookmarks across iDevices, such as iPad and iPhone.
With a book open to a page you want to bookmark, tap the Bookmark button in the upper-right corner.
This automatically adds a bookmark to the page.
To remove a bookmark, tap it.
To go to bookmarks, tap the Table of Contents button on a book page.
In the Table of Contents, tap the Bookmarks tab.
Tap a bookmark in this list to go there.
iPad automatically bookmarks the page where you left off reading in a book, so you don’t have to do that manually.
