How to Use the Voice Notes App on Your BlackBerry PlayBook

By Corey Sandler

The prosaically named Voice Notes app on your BlackBerry PlayBook is as simple as can be to use: Click the Voice Notes app to open it.

Record a memo in Voice Notes

Follow these steps:

  1. Tap the red O recording button.

It’s below the image of an old-style microphone.

  2. Speak in a normal voice at the tablet.

The BlackBerry PlayBook has a pair of microphones hidden away on the top edge. Press the pause button to temporarily halt recording.

  3. Press the square stop button when your dictation is done.

The microphones on the BlackBerry PlayBook record a single (monaural) channel of sound, but the presence of a pair of them allows the electronics to do some fancy processing to reduce echo and background noise.

Play back a recording with Voice Notes

To listen to the contents of a voice recording, visit Voice Notes and tap the file you want to hear. Pause or stop at any time.

Delete a recording on Voice Notes

To remove a voice note, follow along:

  1. Open the app and swipe down from the top bezel.

  2. Tap the pen icon.

  3. Tap in the check box next to one or more files you want to remove.

  4. Tap Delete to complete the task.
