How to Play Music from Your BlackBerry PlayBook

By Corey Sandler

Opening the BlackBerry PlayBook music player and picking a tune is as simple as a tap dance — simpler, actually, since it doesn’t require special shoes or a sense of rhythm.

Launch the PlayBook music player

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the home screen and tap the Media button in the status bar.

  2. Tap Music.

You can also tap the All button in the status bar and scroll through all of the available apps to find Music. You’ll see the number of songs, albums, and playlists on your PlayBook.

Play a specific track from your PlayBook

Tap the track title to automatically begin playback of the music. If you have more than one screen full of tracks, swipe up on the touchscreen to show additional individual tracks. The contents of my All Songs folder are shown here. From the status bar you can do the same: Tap the fast forward, rewind, or pause buttons, or the button that looks like the one next to this paragraph.

Jump to a specific song or album on your PlayBook

Follow these steps:

  1. On the All Songs or Album screen, swipe up from the bottom-left corner.

  2. Type the first letters of the song or album.

  3. Click Return to jump to that section of your music list.

You can see the next scheduled track in a playlist: Tap ^ beside the album art of the song that’s currently playing.

Search your music on the PlayBook

Follow these steps:

  1. Tap Search All.

  2. Type the title or artist you’re looking for.

Switch to a different music category on the PlayBook

Follow these steps:

  1. Swipe down from the top frame.

  2. Tap a category.
