Buy Books from Kobo on Your BlackBerry PlayBook
If one part of using the BlackBerry PlayBook has been tested six ways to Sunday, it’s user efficiency and satisfaction in the purchasing process. After all, that’s where the money is; although Research in Motion makes a bit of money with the sale of each tablet, its business plan also counts on future income from a slice of the sales price of books, music, and apps purchased by users.
When it comes to making a purchase, you need two things:
An account with Kobo
A credit card
You can set up an account with Kobo from your BlackBerry PlayBook, a BlackBerry or other smartphone, or from a personal or laptop computer; use the same login and password for the account so you can access the store from any Internet-connected device.
Once your account is in place, go to a book you want to buy.
Tap its cover.
Most titles show a thumbnail of the cover along with a synopsis. For many current books there’s a Get Preview link near the book title; tapping that will download a sample from the book. Most importantly is a prominent green button marked Buy Now.
Tap the Buy Now button.
If you haven’t already done so in your account, enter your payment and billing information.
All the way down at the bottom of the page is a place where you can enter a promo code; once you get a Kobo account, you have every right to expect the occasional special discount offer. These are the things professional shoppers live for; you know who you are.
Once the buying is done, you’re notified that the download is underway. Depending on the file size and your network speed, the book should arrive within seconds or you may have to wait as long as several minutes.
