How to Set a Payment Method on the Fire Phone Amazon App

By Dan Gookin

When purchasing items by using the Shop Amazon app on your Fire phone, you can select a preset payment type — or input a new type — directly in the app. Additionally, you can purchase items by using 1-Click. That means you click on the Buy button and the item is instantly purchased. The Music, Kindle (eBook), and Video stores all use this technique.

To confirm your 1-Click payment method, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Choose My Accounts.

  3. Tap the item Manage Your Amazon Payment Method.

    The Payment Options screen appears.

  4. Choose 1-Click Payment.

  5. Sign in to your Amazon account.

Your email address (the one you used to sign up for the Amazon account) is already specified. Type the password and tap the Sign-in button.

You see your billing method shown on the 1-Click Payment screen.

Spread your fingers on the screen to zoom in.

  6. Tap the Edit button if you desire to change your billing options.

You can select another credit card that you have on file with Amazon. You can also enter information for a new credit card.

  7. Tap the Continue button after you’ve set a new option.

  8. Choose a billing address.

    Review the information to confirm.

You should also check the 1-Click Settings item in the Shop Amazon app: Open that app and choose Account from the Navigation panel. Tap the 1-Click Settings item to review your options. You can switch the master control by moving Mobile 1-Click Ordering to the Off position to disable 1-Click purchases in the Shop Amazon app.
