How to Save Web Pages on the Fire Phone

By Dan Gookin

When you plan on being away from an Internet connection, such as during a long flight, you can save some web page reading material for later viewing on your Fire phone, when an online connection might not be available.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Open the Silk browser and visit a website.

Preferably, visit a site with something to read, a long article, a story, or other information you’d like to peruse at your leisure.

  2. Tap the Menu icon.

  3. Choose the Save Page command.

The web page is saved for later viewing.

If the reading material spans several pages, you need to save each one: Quickly scan the bottom of the page to see whether a “Next Page” link appears. If so, visit that page and save it as well.

When you’re aloft, or anywhere else that an Internet connection isn’t available, you can read the web pages you’ve saved. Follow these steps:

  1. Display the Navigation panel in the Silk browser.

Swipe the screen in from left to right, or use the Tilt gesture to see the Navigation panel.

  2. Choose Saved Pages.

  3. Tap a page in the list to view its contents.

Not all of the page may show up when you view it offline. That’s because some websites pull in dynamic content from other sources. If an Internet connection isn’t available, that information doesn’t show up on the saved page.
