How to Forward Calls on Your Amazon Fire Phone

By Dan Gookin

When you don’t want to answer an incoming call on your Fire phone, you can dismiss it or ignore it. You can also choose not to get the call in the first place by using a feature known as call forwarding.

For example, you can send all your calls to the office while you’re on vacation. Then you have the luxury of having your cell phone and still making calls but freely ignoring anyone who calls you.

To set call forwarding options on the Fire phone, obey these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Choose Phone.

  3. Choose Forward Incoming Calls.

A screen detailing several handy phone features appears.

  4. Choose Call Forwarding.

  5. Slide the master control to the On position.

Call forwarding is now active, but you need to set the forwarding number.

  6. Type the call forwarding number.

If you’ve already activated call forwarding, a forwarding number may be preset. Otherwise, tap the Call Forwarding Number option and use the onscreen keypad to type a phone number.

Include the area code in the phone number.

  7. Touch the OK button to set call forwarding.

All incoming calls are redirected to the number you specified in Step 6.

You can still use the phone with call forwarding active. Calls can be placed, but none will be received.

The phone gives no indication that call forwarding is active, so you have to remember to disable it when you’re done. To disable call forwarding, repeat Steps 1 through 4, but in Step 5 slide the master control to the Off position.
