Remember Grandma’s yummy popcorn balls? Well, this gluten-free recipe adds a touch of fruit because you use any gluten-free fruit-flavored puffed rice cereal. Try these out for a tasty dessert or decadent snack.

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Yield: 12 servings

3 cups fruit-flavored puffed rice cereal

1 cup popped plain popcorn

1/2 cup peanuts

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons caramel ice cream topping

  1. In a large bowl, combine the cereal, popcorn, and peanuts.

  2. In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat the butter and caramel topping on high for 1 minute, or until it’s melted. Stir it until it’s smooth.

  3. Pour the caramel mixture over the cereal-popcorn-peanut mixture, and stir it well.

  4. Spread the mixture on wax paper to cool. When it’s cool enough to touch safely, mold it into balls the size of a tennis ball. Store the popcorn balls in an airtight container.
