Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease itself and is associated other autoimmune diseases, which means that if you have one of the following conditions, you may want to be tested for a sensitivity to gluten as well:

  • Raynaud’s phenomenon

  • Systemic lupus erythematosus

  • Thyroid disease (Graves’ disease and Hashimoto’s disease)

  • Ulcerative colitis

Sometimes, symptoms of other autoimmune diseases improve on a gluten-free diet.
