Get and Send Info About Your Gear S2

By Eric Butow

Tap Gear Info in the Connections options screen on your Gear S2 smartwatch to select from one of the following options in the Gear Info options screen:

  • About Device: View information about the device, including the model number, serial number, software version, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi addresses.
  • Report Diagnostics: Have the Gear S2 report its activity to Samsung on a regular basis. This option is turned on by default, but tap Report Diagnostics to turn this feature off.
  • Reset Gear: You can reset your Gear S2 in one of two ways. You can perform a light reset that preserves media files and personal data but deletes downloaded apps and reinstalls all default apps. You can also perform a factory reset that deletes all files on the Gear S2 and reinstalls the files so that your smartwatch looks and feels as it did when you first took it out of the box.
  • Debugging: The Gear S2 debugger reads log data, copies files to and from your computer, and installs apps without notifying you first. Tap Debugging to turn this feature on. If you want to use a computer with your Gear S2 for debugging purposes, the Tizen Experts website has an excellent article about how to connect your computer with your Gear S2.
Swipe up and down in the Gear Info screen to view all the options.

Return to the Connections options screen by pressing the Back button. If you want to view more settings in the main Settings screen, press the Back button again. You can return to the Home screen and view the current time by pressing the Home button.
