Gear S2 Apps to Help You Find Your Ride
When you’re in a city and you don’t have a ride, one option you have to get around is to catch a ride with an Uber driver. As of this writing, Uber is the only car-for-hire company that has an app for the Gear S2. Or, if you have your own car but you can’t remember where you parked it, there’s an app for that, too.
When you download the Uber app for the Gear S2 from the Galaxy Apps app, you see that the Phone App Also check box is selected by default. Keep this check box selected because you must also install the Uber Companion app for your smartphone.
The Details screen shown includes several screenshots of the app, with information about how long you have to wait for your ride to get to your location. This information shows you what you can expect when you use your Gear S2 as an uber Uber user.
Find My Car
The story of being unable to find your car in a large parking lot is ingrained into (at least) modern American culture. Now with your Gear S2, you don’t have to worry about finding your car because you can install Samsung’s Find My Car app on your smartwatch.
After you install the app and start it on your Gear S2, the introductory screen appears, telling you that you need to use location-based services to continue using the app. Tap the Confirm icon on the right side of the screen to open the Welcome screen and read information about how the app uses your information. Tap the Confirm icon at the right side of the screen to open the New Parking screen.
In the New Parking screen, tap the New Parking icon in the center of the screen to see a map that has your current location as a green pin icon. You need to be next to your car so that you can see your current location, and you can rotate the bezel to the right to zoom in on the map and rotate the bezel to the right to zoom out on the map.
Tap the green pin icon in the map to open the Parking Memo recording app so that you can record an audio reminder of where you are. You can record up to 30 seconds of audio. Start recording by tapping the Record icon, shown here.
Now you can start talking to your Gear S2. When you’re done, tap the orange Stop icon in the middle of the screen. The play screen appears. Now you can go do what you planned to do and when you come back out to try to find out where you parked, tap the Play icon.
If you want to go back to the map view after you listen to your audio instructions, press the Back button and you’ll see your current location.
