How to Edit Pictures on Your iPhone
The quality of the photos you take with your iPhone is pretty good, but you may want to edit your photos to make them even better. Here’s how to use Photos’ editing options:
Tap Photos on the Home screen.
Tap Camera Roll, an album, Photo Stream, Events, Faces, or Places — wherever the photo you want to edit resides.
Tap the photo you want to edit.
Tap the Edit button.
Five buttons appear at the bottom of the screen:
Rotate: Tap to rotate 90 degrees at a time. Tap Save when you like the orientation.
Auto-Enhance: Tap to adjust the sharpness and contrast of the photo, and then tap Save. Auto-enhance also automatically looks for red-eyes and adjusts them. Tap Save to keep the correction or Cancel to leave the photo alone.
Filters: Tap to apply one of the color filters. A strip across the bottom shows you how each effect will affect your photo; tap the one you like and then tap Apply in the upper right corner, or tap Cancel in the upper left corner to leave the photo as is.
Red-Eye Removal: Tap the tool and then tap the red eye to correct the werewolf effect of your subject’s eyes. If you like the result, tap Apply, and then tap Save. If not, tap on the eye-again to remove the black spot.
As handy as it can be, red-eye removal isn’t perfect. If it doesn’t recognize the red-eye, a message appears at the bottom which reads “Did not find red-eye to correct.” Try zooming in and tapping again. Sometimes it finds more eye than you want and puts a black mark on the face of the person.
Tap near the eye again to remove the extra black mark and try using Auto-Enhance or, better yet, another photo-retouching app such as iPhoto or Photoshop Express.
Crop/Constrain: Use your fingers to zoom, pan, and rotate the image until it appears as you wish. Drag the corners of the crop grid to set the area you want to crop or tap the Aspect button to choose one of the preset aspect ratios. Tap Crop to see the edits, and then tap Save. Your image is saved with the changes you made.
Tap Cancel if you don’t want to Save your changes.
Tap the previous button in the upper left corner to return to the album where the photo resides.
Tap a button at the bottom of the screen to go to another album or press the Home button to leave Photos.
