People move, change jobs, phone numbers, and names, and you want to keep your iPhone Contacts current with the state of affairs. The point of departure for editing and deleting contacts is the same:

  1. Tap Contacts on the Home screen or in the dock of the Phone app.

  2. Tap the name of the contact you want to edit or delete.

  3. Tap the Edit button in the upper right corner.

  4. Tap in the field you want to edit.

The keyboard opens so you can make your change.

Scroll to the next field you want to edit and make any other changes.

  5. To delete a field, tap the red and white minus sign to the left of the field, and then tap Delete, which appears to the right.

If you want to delete a field that you added from the Add Field selections, tap that field, tap the X that appears to the right, and then tap Done. When the field is empty, it will no longer appear on the Contact Info screen.

  6. To add an additional phone, e-mail, website, or address, tap in the blank field below the last filled-in field.

  7. To add a field, tap the Add Field field at the bottom of the screen and proceed as explained previously in the “Creating New Contacts” section.

  8. Tap Done in the upper right corner.

  9. The corrected contact info screen appears.

To delete a contact, tap the name of the contact, tap edit, and then tap the Delete Contact button at the bottom of the edit screen.

Changes, additions, and deletions you make are automatically pushed to your computer and other devices logged in to the services you use such as iCloud or Google.
