How to Edit Wikis, Blogs, and Pages in Lion Server’s Built-in Web Site

By John Rizzo

On Lion Server’s default web site, users can edit wiki pages and blogs for which they have write permissions. This includes the home page, My Page, and other pages. You can edit from a web browser by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the page you want to edit.

For a blog, click the a blog post title to bring up an individual post. You can’t edit blog posts while viewing the entire blog.

  2. Click the pencil icon in the toolbar to take you into edit mode.

A new editing toolbar replaces the standard toolbar. Hovering over a toolbar icon brings up a description of the icon’s function. Here’s what’s in the toolbar:

    • To edit text on the page, simply place the cursor on the page or select text and type.

    • Formatting and arranging text.

    • The curved arrow icon lets you create a link for selected text.

    • The musical notes icon inserts movies or audio.

    • The paper-clip icon lets you attach a file to the page.

    • The square icon inserts a table.

    • The box icon lets you add a bit of HTML to the page’s content. You can use standard HTML tags.

  3. Click the Save button on the editing toolbar when finished.
