How to Get Directions for Public Transportation in macOS Sierra

By Bob LeVitus

Sierra’s Maps app offers directions for using public transportation. That’s the good news. The bad news is that unless you live in a relatively large city, it may be a while (and quite possibly a long while, depending on the size of your city) before directions are available for your home town.

However, as cities continue to expand on public transit, you may see more and more options for finding reliable public transportation options near you. How do you use it? It’s easy, especially if you are already familiar with finding driving directions on your Mac.

Public transit directions work the same as driving directions; specify your start and end points and Maps suggests several routes via public transit.

If you zoom in far enough you can see the entrances to transportation facilities such as train stations.

Zoom in far enough and you can even see the entrances.
