Reading an eBook isn't much harder than reading a paperback. Here are the simple steps involved in making your way around an eBook using iBooks eReader:

  1. Tap iBooks, and if your Library (the bookshelf) isn't already displayed, tap the Library button.

  2. Tap an eBook to open it.

The book opens. (If you hold your iPad in portrait orientation, it shows one page; if in landscape orientation, it will show two).

  3. Take any of these actions to navigate through the book:

    • Tap and drag the slider at the bottom of the page to the right or left to move to another page in the book.

    • Tap the Table of Contents button in the top-left corner of the page (it looks like a little bulleted list) to go to the book's Table of Contents and then tap a chapter to go to it.

    • Place your finger on the bottom-right corner of a page and flick it to the left to turn to the next page. Alternately, tap the edge of the right page to do the same thing.

    • Place your finger on the bottom-left corner of a page and flick it to the right to turn to the preceding page. Tap the edge of the left page to accomplish the same task.

To return to the Library to view another book at any time, tap the Library button. If the button isn't visible, press your finger near the top of the screen, and the toolbar appears.
