Options Submenu in TI-Nspire Vernier DataQuest Application

By Jeff McCalla, Steve Ouellette

Of all the applications on TI-Nspire, the Vernier DataQuest application has the greatest capacity to be customized. The Options submenu provides more options and settings that can be tweaked to fit your needs, including the following:

  • Point Options: The default point option is to have regional points that are connected. Regional points are spaced evenly throughout the data. You have the option of not displaying any points or displaying all the collected data points. Deselect the check box in the dialog box if you don’t want the data points to be connected.

  • Autoscale Settings: During the data collection, Autoscale can be turned off or set to Autoscale Larger (automatically fits the data in the screen). After the data collection has finished, you have three options: Autoscale Turned Off, Autoscale to Data (the default setting), or Autoscale from Zero (includes the origin on the graph).

  • Derivative Settings: Enter the number of points (from a drop-down menu) to calculate the derivative when calculating velocity or acceleration.

  • Print All Settings: Using TI-Nspire Computer Software, the screen can be printed by selecting Print Current View. Print All Views prints the Meter, Graph, and Table views. Choosing More allows you to print any combination of the three views. See the first screen.

  • Show/Hide Meters: Selecting the check boxes can add additional meters (Time, Position, Velocity, and Acceleration) when displaying Meter view. See the second screen.

  • Hide Details: If you want more room to display the results of your experiment, you can hide the Infobox. This option changes to Show Details after selecting Hide Details. See the third screen.
