How to Knit Striped Wristlets

Knitted striped wristlets are simple but fun accessories that look amazing in multicolored or novelty yarns. The knitted wristlets are a great way to use up all the yarn bits you accumulate at the bottom of your knitting basket and make quick gifts.

Pull out all your leftover colored yarn to make these funky striped wristlets!

Here are the materials and vital statistics you need for this project:

  • Measurements: 3 1/2 inches x 8 inches before seaming for the smallest size

  • Yarn: Heavy worsted-weight wool; approximately 50–60 yards per wristlet; various colors, as desired

  • Needles: One pair of size US 10 (6 mm) needles; yarn or tapestry needle for weaving in ends

  • Gauge: Approximately 3 1/2 to 4 stitches and 5 to 6 rows per 1 inch, depending on yarn or yarns used

Creating these striped wristlets is simple:

  1. Cast on 32 (36, 40, 44) stitches (sts).

  2. Follow this pattern:

Row 1 (and all RS rows): * K4, p4; rep from * to end of row.

Row 2 (and all WS rows): * P4, k4; rep from * to end of row.

  3. Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for 17–20 rows, depending on your desired length.

Switch yarns wherever you want to create stripes.

  4. Bind off the stitches and seam up the sides.

    No blocking is necessary.
