Open and Play a Video on Your Kindle Fire

Playing a video on your Kindle Fire is a simple process. If the video has been downloaded to your device, open the library (tap Video, and then tap the Library button), locate the video, and then tap the video to play it.

If you’re streaming a video you’ve purchased from the Cloud, follow these steps:

  1. Tap the Cloud tab.

Videos you’ve rented (whose rental period hasn’t expired) or purchased are displayed.

  2. Double-tap an item to open it.

If it’s a TV show, you see episodes listed; tap one to open it. If it’s a movie, at this point, you see a description of the movie.

  3. Tap the Watch Now button.

    The playback controls appear.

  4. If you’ve already watched part of the video, tap the Resume button.

If you’d rather see the video from its start, tap the Play from Beginning button.

The movie appears full screen. The title of the Movie appears at the top of the screen.

Note that the Kindle Fire screen provides an extra-wide viewing angle. This means that you and those watching with you can see the content from the side as well as from straight on.

The familiar playback tools available here include

  • Play

  • Pause

  • A progress bar

  • A volume slider

  • A button that moves you ten seconds back in the video

There’s also a Back button in the Options bar that you can tap to stop playback and return to the Kindle Fire Video library. The More Episodes button goes back to all episodes of a TV show.

When you display a video’s details in the Amazon Video Store, you can tap the Rental & Purchase Details link to view the terms of use for playing the video.
