Manage Your Amazon Account from Your Fire Tablet

By Nancy C. Muir

You buy things from Amazon by using the account and payment information you provide when you create an Amazon account. To buy things on Amazon with your Fire tablet, you need to have registered your Fire tablet using an Amazon account, which usually happens during the setup process.

You can change the account to which your tablet is registered by deregistering it and then registering it to the Amazon credentials for the other account. For example, if you prefer to have purchases charged to your spouse’s Amazon account or you are giving or selling your Fire to somebody else, you might want to associate it with a different Amazon account. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to display Quick Settings.

  2. Tap Settings.

  3. Tap My Account.

  4. Tap the Deregister button.

    A confirming screen appears.

  5. Tap Deregister.

  6. Tap the Register button.

  7. Enter your preferred Amazon credentials (email address and a password) for the account you want to associate with your device.

  8. Tap Create Account.

After you associate your device with an Amazon account, you can manage account settings and payment options by following these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Amazon website by using the browser on either your Fire tablet or your computer.

  2. Tap (if you’re using a touchscreen device) or click Your Account in the top-right corner of the Amazon screen.

  3. Tap Account in the menu that appears.

  4. Tap or click the Manage Payment Options from the Payment section of your account.

The Credit and Debit Cards page appears. If you want to add a new payment method at this point, choose Add Credit/ Debit Card.

  5. Click a payment method and make changes using the Delete or Edit button.

Your changes are automatically saved. Now when you purchase items from your Amazon Fire tablet, the default payment and billing option is used to complete the purchase.
