How to Attach Arrowheads to Lines in PowerPoint 2007 Slides

By Peter Weverka

Using arrows on your PowerPoint slides is an easy way to indicate flow. PowerPoint offers arrowheads in different sizes and shapes. PowerPoint lets you attach arrowheads on either side or both sides of a line.

To change the style of an arrowhead, attach an arrowhead to both sides or either side of a line, or change the size of an arrowhead, start by selecting your arrow or line and going to the (Drawing Tools) Format tab. Then use one of these techniques to handle the arrowheads:

  • Click the Shape Outline button, choose Arrows on the drop-down list, and select an arrow on the submenu.

  • Click the Shape Styles group button to open the Format Shape dialog box. In the Line Style category, click the Begin Type or End Type button and choose which arrowhead you want (or choose No Arrow) on the drop-down list. Then, to choose a size for your arrowhead, click the Begin Size or End Size button and choose an option on the drop-down list.

To attach an arrowhead or arrowheads to a line you’ve already drawn, select the line and proceed as though you were attaching arrowheads to a line that already was an arrow. Either select an option on the Arrows submenu or open the Line Style category of the Format Shape dialog box and take it from there.
