How to Take a Photo to Post on Facebook

By Carolyn Abram

Want to post your photo on Facebook? If you have a webcam, you can always take a photo of yourself to share just what you’re feeling at the moment or to illustrate just what’s going on around you at that coffee shop you like so much. To get started, follow these steps:

1Click Add Photo/Video in the Publisher on your Home page or Profile.

This opens the Photo options.

2Click Use Webcam.

This expands the webcam interface.

3(Optional) Choose a filter from the menu in the top-left corner of the photo preview.

Filters are a way to make your photo a little more silly or fun.

4Click the blue camera button in the middle of the frame to take your photo.

You’ll be able to see the photo you’ve snapped on the screen. Click the X in the upper-right corner if you want to start over.

5Click in the Say Something about This Photo box.

You can write any explanation you think is necessary.

6(Optional) Click the privacy menu to select who can see this photo.

If you’ve never changed your privacy settings, by default, Everyone on Facebook can see this photo if they navigate to your Profile.

7Click Post.

This officially posts the photo to Facebook and creates a post that people can see in your Profile and in their News Feeds (provided that they are allowed by your privacy settings to see the photo).
