How to Target Influencers for Your Infographic

By Justin Beegel, MBA, The Infographic World Team

Influencers are people and organizations who can help spread your infographic. When it comes to launching your infographic at just the right time, here are a few tips:

  • Never launch your infographic promotion on a Friday. If you start reaching out to people on a Friday, you’re running head first into the weekend, when people aren’t checking their e-mails, and Internet traffic drops dramatically.

If you launch on a Friday and get lucky enough to have a major website feature your infographic that same day, that’s great news! However, you’re not giving the infographic a chance to gain momentum and get shared and picked up by other websites. Instead, you’ll get a decent amount of exposure on Friday, which will likely dwindle over the weekend and be forgotten by the time Monday rolls around.

  • Launch and promote your infographic on Mondays and Tuesdays whenever possible. This gives you the entire week for people to see your infographic on your site and for bloggers and influencers to see your e-mail outreach to them and consider featuring your content.

  • Noon Eastern Standard Time is often the best time to launch. At that time, everyone on the East Coast is deep into their day, while those on the West Coast are starting their days. Traffic levels tend to be strongest for many sites in the 12 p.m.–1 p.m. EST range. This is not the case for all websites, but it provides a good starting point.

In general, you want to time your promotion to when people are most likely to be in front of their computers. For many people, that is during work hours. Yes, you are taking away from their productivity, but hey — some sacrifices have to be made.
