Data Collection in TI-Nspire Vernier DataQuest Application

The Vernier DataQuest application on the TI-Nspire has many features that make it easy to collect and analyze data. Here’s a brief overview of how to conduct a data collection experiment:

  1. Attach a compatible sensor to a TI-Nspire device or a computer running TI-Nspire Computer Software.

    The Vernier DataQuest application automatically starts, inserting a page into your current document. See the first screen. Notice the three Infobox view tabs in the upper-left corner of the screen. Use these tabs to change the view: Meter, Graph, or Table.

  2. Manually configure the Vernier DataQuest application or choose to work with the default sensor settings.

  3. Run the experiment.

  4. Analyze the results, which are given graphically (click the Graph View tab), numerically (click the Table View tab), or both. See the second and third screens.

    At the conclusion of an experiment, you have the option of saving the data and running a new experiment, replaying the experiment (change the speed as needed), or running a new experiment and overwriting the data.


When using the Vernier DataQuest application to collect data, you should only have one document open on your Computer Software. Otherwise, the sensors will have difficulty determining which open document to use.
