The new LG G5 is expected to be released sometime in April, 2016. One of the major innovations on this specific phone is the ability to swap out particular parts, giving you the ability to personalize your phone to suit your needs. This is similar to choosing the RAM, processor, and memory of your PC. While you can’t quite make those choices just yet, the LG G5 does offer some removable pieces of hardware:

  • Removable battery: Having a removable battery is useful if you need immediate access to your lifeless phone. Simply swap out the battery and plug the dead one in to charge. While the device only boasts a 2,800mAh battery, it holds up well against competitors and with an additional battery on hand, you needn’t worry about your device maintaining a charge.

  • Cam Plus: This add-on piece of hardware attaches to the phone, providing you with additional battery life and physical buttons for all your picture taking needs.

  • Hi-fi Plus: This little device is a digital to analog converter. You can use it to achieve high definition for your sound files.

In addition, the LG G5 includes other features that will keep it on par with other mobile devices. If you decide to go with the LG G5, you will get the following:

  • Fingerprint sensor: This security feature lends that extra sense of security by requiring a fingerprint match to unlock your device.

  • Always-on screen: This feature allows you to see the Home screen, even while your device sleeps. Following suit with other popular phones, this allows you to easily check the time without having to unlock your device.

  • Two rear cameras: This LG comes equipped with two rear cameras — one normal, one wide-angle. The 135-degree wide angle lens allows you to fit more into those coveted photos. These cameras are also fully loaded with some software tricks. Multiview shows you a collage of pictures taken with both cameras. The Popout feature shows you the standard view picture on top of the wide view image.

  • Snapdragon 820 processor: Offers fast processing so that you can multitask with the best.

  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS: The LG G5 has the latest operating system available on Android phones, keeping itself competitive with other available Android models.

  • Expandable storage: In addition to the 32GB of storage that comes on the new LG, you can choose to tack on an additional 2TB.

  • Accessory options: There are numerous accessories that are compatible with this device, including the LG Tone Platinum headphones, LG 360 VR headset, and LG 360 Cam.

LG has also opted to replace the app drawer. Instead, users will see their most-used apps on their homepage, similar to the layout adopted by the iPhone. However, if you prefer the app drawer, you can get a similar layout in a feature called EasyHome.

Some of the other software upgrades include increased functionality for customizing the notifications shade and on-screen home buttons.
