Sort and Find Contacts on the Droid Bionic

The Contacts app on your Droid Bionic stores information about your friends and associates in an electronic address book called the Contacts list. Your contacts are displayed in the Contacts app in a certain order: alphabetically by first name and first name first. You can change the order, if you like:

  1. Start the Contacts app.

  2. Press the Menu soft button and choose Display Options.

  3. Choose Sort List By.

  4. Select First Name or Last Name to sort the list accordingly.

  5. Choose View Contact Names As.

  6. Choose either First Name First or Last Name First, which specifies how contacts are displayed in the list.

The way the name is displayed doesn’t affect the sort order. So, if you choose First Name First as well as Last Name for the sort order, you still see the list sorted by last name.

  7. Press the Back soft button when you’re done.

The Contacts list is updated, displayed per your preferences.

When you need to find a contact, rather than scroll the Contacts list (which can take awhile), press the Search soft button or the Contact Search button in the Contacts app.

The Search Contacts text box appears. Type a few letters of the contact’s name and you see the list of contacts narrowed to the few who match the letters you type. Touch a name from the search list to view the contact’s information.
