Social Networking Opportunities on Your Android Phone

By Dan Gookin

The Internet is nuts over social networking. Your Android phone provides a perfect opportunity to take full advantage of those networks. Facebook may be the king, but you’ll find lots of landed gentry out for that crown. It almost seems as though a new social networking site pops up every week. Beyond Facebook, Google Hangouts, Skype, and Twitter, other social networking sites include, but are not limited to

  • Google+

  • LinkedIn

  • Meebo

  • Myspace

Each of these social networking opportunities features an app at the Google Play Store as well as an online presence. As with other online sites, use the app and not the phone’s web browser to access the service.

All the apps let you create an account if you don’t already have one, though you may find that process easier to complete by using a computer. After you have an account, sign into the service when you open the app. The service is available and generates notifications as long as you’re signed in.

If you find yourself overwhelmed with social networking sites and sources, consider obtaining the HootSuite app. Use it to share your thoughts on a multitude of social networking platforms.

All social networking apps are quickly accessed by using the Share icon. The quick way to post pictures, share web links, or forward YouTube videos is to tap the Share icon and then choose your favorite social networking app.
