Start Menu Options for Windows 10

By Woody Leonhard

Two favorite Windows 8 start menu replacements are back, better than ever, in Windows 10. Stardock’s Start10 and Class Shell are both still available to you.

Stardock’s Start10, a favorite of many, brings back most of the customization controls in Windows 7 — and all of the customizations in Start8. It costs all of $4.

If free is more your style, consider Classic Shell. Also one of the biggest names in Windows 8 Start menu replacements, Classic Shell doesn’t have the handsome good looks of Start10, but it more than gets the job done.

Be careful and uncheck any options in the installer. Classic Shell is still connected to SourceForge, and some users have had problems with unwanted “crapware” when they use the SourceForge installer.
