How to Use Offerpop for Facebook Contest Management

Offerpop is a very easy application to use for your Business’s Facebook contest. Because it has so many promotional tools, you may want to choose the monthly subscription plan, which is very reasonable, so that you have access to multiple tools. You get one trial campaign for up to 14 days. It’s worth trying!

How to sign up for Offerpop

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Go to

  2. Click the orange Get Started button in the top-right corner of the home page.

    A pop-up window asks you whether you want to select Facebook or Twitter as your platform.

  3. Select Facebook.

    Another pop-up window prompts you to log in to Facebook if you aren’t already logged in.

    If you are logged in to your Page, you’re prompted to switch back to your personal Profile. Don’t worry about using this app from your personal Profile; most apps work this way. You select the Page where you want to add your contest a little later.

  4. Click the blue Log In with Facebook button.

    A pop-up window asks permission for Offerpop to manage your pages. Later, you grant Offerpop access to only one of your Pages.

  5. Click Allow.

    In the next screen, you enter your company name and information.

  6. Enter the required information.

    You can choose to select the Page on which you want to run your promotion now, or you can add that information later.


  7. When you’re done, click Continue.

    You’re taken to the terms page.

  8. Click Accept.

    You see the main dashboard, where you can add Pages, start campaigns, and access the other apps.


You can get more information about any of the campaigns by mousing over the question-mark symbol next to the name of the campaign. If you are looking to add a Sweepstakes to your Page, Offerpop titles their Sweepstakes App, “Sign Up”.

How to publish a sweepstakes

To publish a sweepstakes, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Sign Up option in the list on the left side of the dashboard.

    You’re taken to a Customize page that displays a filled-in example.

  2. Replace the sample information with your campaign information:

    • Facebook Page: From the drop-down list, choose the Page on which you want the campaign to appear. If you don’t see the correct page, you need to go back to the dashboard and click Add Page.


    • Headline: The headline appears at the top of your Sweepstakes app, as well as in the News Feed when people enter or share the contest. Make it brief, eye-catching, and engaging.

    • Headline Image: This image appears at the top of your Sweepstakes app but replaces the Headline. It’s best if this image can say something about the contest itself.

    • Instructions: Use this area to say more about the contest and how to win. This area supports HTML if you want to use HTML tags to format your instructions.

    • Form: Specify the fields in which people need to enter information. The less information you require, the easier it is for people to enter your contest. You can also let people check a box to get on your e-mail list. If you’re going to add entrants to your newsletter list, you must have them say that they want to be on your e-mail list.

    • Campaign Ends: Select the time and date when you’ll stop taking entries.

    • Advanced Options: Select the advanced options that you want to enable. You can fan-gate your content (people have to like your Page before they can enter), customize the page people go to after signing up, and more.

  3. Click Fan View, Non-Fan View, and After Sign Up in turn to see how your sweepstakes entry looks with those settings.


  4. (Optional) Make adjustments to your customization choices.

  5. Click Save Draft or Publish Now, depending on whether you’re ready for your sweepstakes to go live.

    When you click Publish Now, you’re taken to a confirmation page.


  6. Confirm your Page, and name your tab appropriately.

  7. Click the red Publish Now button.

    You can also click the Do This Later link if you aren’t ready to publish it yet. Your campaign is saved and can be accessed from your Offerpop Dashboard.

    You’re taken back to the Offerpop dashboard, where you get confirmation that your campaign has been published if you clicked the Publish Now button.
