How to Upload an Image for Your Facebook Ad - dummies

By Amy Porterfield, Phyllis Khare, Andrea Vahl

Images make your business’s Facebook ad more eye catching, and Facebook now requires them anyway. An image can be a logo, photo, or icon and should relate to the title and body text of the ad.

The photo should be clear and not too “busy;” it’ll be only 100 pixels wide and 72 pixels tall. Once you have selected your destination URL and crafted your message, you are ready to add your image. To upload your image, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Upload Image button next to the Image field.

A pop-up window appears, displaying the files on your computer.

  2. Navigate to your image by finding the folder that the image is in, and click the image you want to use in your ad.

The filename of the image appears in the File Name field in the bottom of the pop-up window.

  3. Click the Open button next to the File Name field.

The pop-up window closes, and you see the image in the preview window of the ad. Uploads must be smaller than 5MB.

Facebook finds the Page related to this external URL. People who view the ad will potentially see mentions of their Friends who have liked the Page, and they can click the link to get to the Facebook Page rather than the URL you’re advertising. This option isn’t a bad one if they then like the Page and you can connect with that person on Facebook.

Just be aware that you’ll be charged for a click. This option is off by default; to turn it on, you have to click the box next to the Related Page option. If you don’t want the related Page to show up in the ad, leave the box deselected.
