How to Use Pinterest Website Analytics for Visual Social Marketing

By Krista Neher

If you have verified your website with Pinterest, you can access analytics for your site’s visual social marketing. You can see analytics for your own website only if you have verified it; you can’t see other sites.

Analytics let you see how content from your site is performing. To access analytics, click on your user icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and select Analytics from the drop-down list.

Pinterest initially shows you site metrics. When viewing analytics, you can change the date range by clicking on the Date button in the upper-left corner. From there, you can Quick-Select (to use the site’s term) predetermined date ranges or choose the dates yourself by clicking on the calendar. Analytics reports can also be exported by clicking the Export button in the upper-right corner.

Analytics are broken down into four categories:

  • Site Metrics: Site metrics includes eight different metrics, based on the selected date range. All the metrics shown are daily averages; for example, the pins number is the daily average number of pins from your website. The left side also displays +/– percentages that show the increase or decrease from the current date range you’re viewing compared to the previous date range. Analytics provided in site metrics include

    • Pins: The average number of pins per day from your website

    • Pinners: The daily average number of pinners who pinned content from your website

    • Repins: The daily average number of times that pins from your site were repinned

    • Repinners: The daily average number of unique pinners who repinned your pins

    • Impressions: The daily average number of times that your pins were viewed in a newsfeed, in search results, or on a board

    • Reach: The daily average number of unique people who saw your pins on Pinterest

    • Clicks: The average daily number of clicks to your site from Pinterest

    • Visitors: The average daily number of unique people who visited your site from Pinterest

  • Most Recent: The Most Recent Content tab shows the most recent pins created by any user of content from your website. This tab doesn’t let you choose a date range, because it’s a feed of the most recent pins.

  • Most Repinned: The Most Repinned tab displays the 100 most repinned pins as of the date you selected. In this view, you can choose only an individual date, yesterday, past 7 days, or past 14 days.

  • Most Clicked: This option displays the most-often-clicked-on pins from your site. These pins are the pins that are driving the most traffic to your site. You can also select date options here.

Analytics help you to understand how content from your website is performing. Use analytics to your benefit to optimize and adjust your Pinterest marketing strategy.
