How to Upload Images on Squarespace

By Kris Black

Images are important because they add significant visual appeal to your website design. You can get an image on your website through Squarespace in three ways:

  • Drag and drop the image

  • Select and upload the image

  • Find the image on another website

The first two methods involve uploading from your computer. In the third method, you pull an image from another website. Anytime you add an image, you will see this box:

Clicking the box will open a system dialog box where you can navigate to a folder on your computer, select an image, and upload it. If that seems too cumbersome for you, you can simply drag an image file from your computer and drop it over the image box. Either action will upload the image to your site.

In some areas of your site, such as a gallery page or a gallery block, you can drag and drop multiple images. Now that’s a huge time-saver.

If you want to upload an image from a website, see if the image box has an icon in the lower-right corner. If it does, click that icon and type a web address in the dialog box that appears.

Then click the Find Images button, and Squarespace will locate any available images at the web address you provided and display them for you to select. Click the image you want to use and Squarespace will pull that image into your website.
