Posting YouTube Videos on Your Drupal Site

By Lynn Beighley, Seamus Bellamy

You can post YouTube videos to any content type in you Drupal site — article, blog post, or page — by first visiting YouTube to gather information about the video and then posting it on your site. Here’s how it works:

  1. Locate the video you want to post on the YouTube site and open its page.

In the example, a video located at Do Re Me You Tube is opened.

  2. Click the Share button under the video, and then click the Embed button.

  3. Click the text in the Embed text box. Select all of the code and copy it.

  4. On your Drupal site, click Add Content and select the content type where you want to post this video.

For the example, Article is chosen.

  5. Paste the code you copied from the YouTube Embed text box into the Body box on your Drupal Create Content form.

    • You can put text above or below the video if you want. Type any text you want above or below the section of code you just pasted into the Create Content form Body text box.

    • Don’t forget to give your posting a title by entering text in the Title text box of the Create Content form.

  6. Select the Full HTML for Text format.

This is what allows the code you pasted in the Body text box to be interpreted correctly by the Drupal software. If you don’t do this, Drupal will simply ignore the code and your video won’t show up.

  7. Click Save.

Your video is published on your site.
