How to Multiply Variables

When variables are the same, multiplying them together compresses them into a single factor (variable). But you still can’t combine different variables. When multiplying variables, you multiply the coefficients and variables as usual. If the bases are the same, you can multiply the bases by merely adding their exponents.

Write the following results in a compact form.

Example 1:

a × a × b × c

Example 2:

2 × a × a × a × b × b × c
