Job boards can be a great resource during a job hunt. Now that you’re included in the category of workers 50 and older, you can take advantage of the job boards that eliminate some of your competition:

  • AARP job board: You can search for jobs by job title, key words, or company name and by location.

  • Encore.org: This is the place to go for boomers attracted to second careers in the nonprofit sector. Mouse over Resources, near the top of the page, click Resources for Encore Seekers, and scroll down to the “Explore social sector jobs” section for links to organizations that may be able to help you track down meaningful employment for your encore career.

  • National Older Worker Career Center (NOWCC): The NOWCC is “a national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting experienced workers as a valuable and critical component of the nation’s workforce.” Mouse over Applicants, near the top of the page, and click Current Openings to browse job openings listed by state and find a link to submit your application.

  • RetiredBrains: This online job board, specializing in part-time gigs, connects to thousands of jobs for those over 50.

  • RetirementJobs: This site is geared toward full-time positions for 50-plus job seekers.

  • SeniorJobBank.org: This is a career site with an active jobs board for boomers and seniors.

  • Seniors4hire.org: Job seekers can submit a résumé, post a description of their model job, or apply for posted jobs.

  • Workforce50.com: Workforce50.com’s core mission is “to find and provide job listings from employers truly interested in hiring from the over-50 community.” Here, you can also find information and articles related to job searching.
