By Rosemarie Withee, Ken Withee, Jennifer Reed

Each Office 365 subscriber with a qualifying plan can install the Office mobile apps on up to five tablets and five smartphones. The qualifying plans are: Office for Business Premium, Office 365 Business, Office 365 Pro Plus, Office 365 E3, and Office 365 E5 plans.

The core Office apps available in Windows, iOS, and Android devices are Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. You can also download and install the OneDrive, Skype for Business, Yammer, and Delve apps to round out your Office 365 mobile experience.

The Office mobile apps from an Office 365 subscription come with premium features not available in the free version of Office for tablets and phones:

  • PowerPoint: Use the Presenter view to see, add, and edit speaker notes; add and edit videos; format images to add styles, shadow, reflection, arrange, and crop.
  • Word: Track changes; re-orient the page; insert charts; add WordArt; format images.
  • Excel: Add and modify charts; use pivot tables.

You can save the documents you created from the Office mobile apps to SharePoint or OneDrive. After you connect your app to these cloud storage services, you can quickly access them from the backstage view of the app (shown).
