How to Clear the Formatting of a Style in Word 2007

You can use the Clear Formatting command in Word 2007 to quickly remove all formatting from your text. Actually, this doesn’t completely remove all formatting from the text, because formatting cannot be utterly removed; what it does is reapply the Normal style to the selected text.

1Select the text from which you want to clear formatting.

To clear only paragraph formatting, click anywhere in the paragraph. To clear only character formatting, select the text that has character formatting applied. To clear all formatting, select the entire paragraph.

2Click the Clear Formatting button.

This is located in the Font group on the Home tab. (The keyboard shortcut for the Clear Formatting command is Ctrl+spacebar.)
