How to Unlock Your Galaxy Tab S with Your Finger

By Dan Gookin

The Galaxy Tab S features a fingerprint scanner, nestled in the Home button. Use that scanner to unlock your Tab with a swipe of your finger. This provides an added level of security in case an unauthorized user tries to gain access to your tablet. Just follow these easy steps to set it up:

  1. Get to the Select Screen Lock screen.

  2. Choose Fingerprint.

Directions may appear on the screen, which you are free not to read. Tap the OK button to dismiss them.

  3. Choose your favorite digit or hallux, and swipe it over the animated dots on the screen, as well as the Home button.

A countdown appears on the screen. You must repeat this step so that the fingerprint is properly registered.

  4. Repeat Step 3 as required.

  5. Type a password and confirm.

The password is a backup, most likely in case you get your finger chopped off.

The Tab is now ready to be unlocked by using your fingerprint.

The fingerprint you set stays registered with the tablet, even when you switch to another screen lock.
