How to Add Another User on Your Samsung Galaxy Tab S

By Dan Gookin

When someone else desires to use your Galaxy Tab, don’t just hand it over! Instead, create a custom user account for that person. First, apply a screen lock to your account on the Tab.” Ensure that the screen lock is at least medium security; PIN or Password locks are preferred.

Second, get together with the other human and follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Tap the Device tab, and then choose Users from the left side of the screen.

On the Galaxy Tab 4, the Users item is found on the General tab.

  3. Tap the Add icon.

The icon looks like a big plus and is found in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  4. Choose User.

  5. Tap the OK button after ignoring the Add User info.

  6. Tap the Set Up Now button, and then hand the Tab over to the other person so that he can continue configuring the device.

At this point, the other person configures the Galaxy Tab exactly as you did when you first set up your account. He’ll specify a Google/Gmail account and set other options, and then he can start using the tablet. All his settings, apps, email, and other items are unique to his account. And he cannot access your account unless he knows how to work your screen lock.

  • It’s a good idea for each user on the Tab to have an account protected with a medium- to high-security screen lock.

  • The tablet’s first user (most likely you) is the main user, the one who has primary administrative control.

  • Remove an account by following Steps 1 through 4. Tap the account you want to remove, and then tap the Delete (trash can) icon. Touch the OK or Delete button to confirm.
