Grouping and Degrouping Contacts on Your Tab 4 NOOK

By Corey Sandler

If you’ve only got a handful of contacts on your Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK, you can just leave them in a single short list. And then you should get out more and meet some new people.

Once your collection grows to many dozens, you can make some contacts members of a group, or make some of them favorites. Here’s how to categorize:

  1. Open the Contacts app.

  2. Tap the Groups tab.

  3. Create your own group and assign contacts to it.

Or, choose from pre-labeled groups such as Family, Friends, Co-workers. The Not Assigned group is actually a group, as opposed to contacts which haven’t been assigned to a group, if you get my meaning.

To add a single contact to a group, simply edit the Group field for that contact.

Multiple group contacts

You can add group members by the dozen, or the baker’s dozen, if you like. Here’s how:

  1. Tap Contacts, then tap Groups.

  2. Tap the group you want to use.

  3. Tap Menu, then choose Add Member.

Contacts that are available for categorization will be displayed.

  4. Tap the name of each contact to add, or tap Select All.

  5. Tap Done to add the contacts to the group.

Remove group members

Sometimes it’s time to thin the herd. Here’s how to remove some or all members of a group:

  1. Tap Contacts and then tap Groups.

  2. Tap the group from which you want to remove members.

  3. Tap Menu. Then tap Remove Member.

  4. Tap the name of each contact to be removed, or tap Select All.

  5. Tap Done to remove the contact(s).

Rename a group

And when time comes to change the name of a group, you can do that, too:

  1. Tap Contacts, and then tap Groups.

  2. Tap the group you want to rename.

  3. Tap Menu, then tap Edit Group.

  4. Tap the group Name field and type a new name.

  5. Tap Save to seal the deal.

Delete a group

The end comes for all, including some groups on a Tab 4 NOOK. Here’s how to be rid of one or more:

  1. Tap Contacts, then Groups, then Menu. Then tap Delete Groups.

  2. Tap the names of groups you want to delete, or tap Select All.

  3. Tap Done to complete your order.

  4. Tap Group Only to delete the group name.

Or, tap Group and Group Members to send both the group and all of its members to the digital dumpster.
