Find Your Current Location with iPad’s Maps App
With the Maps app on the iPad or iPhone, you can quickly and easily discover exactly where you are. The Maps app has improved a lot since Apple took it over (from Google) in iOS 6. To determine your current location, follow these steps to find yourself:
Make sure Location Services is enabled by tapping Settings→Privacy→Location Services.
Tap the Location Services and Maps switches to On (green) if necessary.
Tap the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Tap the Maps icon on your Home screen.
Tap the little arrow icon in the lower-left corner of the screen.
The arrow icon turns blue, which assures you that Location Services is doing its thing and you’ll soon see a blue circle, which indicates your approximate location.
Just so you know, if you tap, drag the map, or zoom in and/or out, your iPad continues to update your location, but it doesn’t continue to center the marker. That’s a good thing, but it also means that the location indicator can move off the screen.
If that happens, or you move around and the location indicator moves away from the middle of the screen, just tap the arrow icon. Your iPad updates your location and adjusts the map so your location indicator is in the middle of the screen.
