How to Add a Cover Photo to Your Company’s Facebook Marketing Page

As a social marketer, it is important which cover photo you choose for Facebook Timeline. The cover photo is the large background photo appearing at the top of your Timeline and the first thing people will see when landing on your brand’s Page.

Your cover photo is more than just a picture; it’s a representation of your brand. You have a wonderful opportunity to illustrate your brand, product, or service in any way you want and you want to make a lasting impression. Many top brands, such as Ben & Jerry’s, Ford, and Coca-Cola, take great care in designing their Timeline images.

Before you get started, take time to research other brands on Facebook to see how they’re using their Timelines. This may give you some good ideas.

To add a cover photo to your Timeline:

  1. Hover on the Cover Photo area and click Add a Cover.

  2. Choose whether you want to upload a new photo or a photo from an existing photo album.

    • Choose from Photos: If you want to use a photo that already resides in your Page’s Photo Albums, choose this option.

    • Upload Photo: If you want to upload an image from your computer, choose this option.

    After you choose a photo, you can reposition it by clicking the image and dragging it up or down.

  3. Click Save Changes.

    Facebook Timeline offers more information on working with the cover photo.

Keep in mind that your Timeline cover image doesn’t have to be a permanent thing. You can change it as often as you see fit. Change with the seasons or to coincide with product launches.
