How to Use a Scanner

Step 6 of 8

Set other options.

For example, set the type of scan: color, grayscale, or document. You can also set resolution, although the scanner software probably makes the proper adjustment for you. (If not, 200 dpi is good.)

Thanks, this is the clearest information on the internet about how to use a scanner, the others drivel on about anything but which button to press and where the cables go in my laptop and the scanner, but still nothing is happening. I am sure something is supposed to appear automatically on my screen when the scanner is attatched to my laptop, so I think I have inserted the cable into the wrong hole on my laptop. Thanks for not drivelling on in computerese though. Whilst people like me are just screamig what button do I press, and where do I put the cable? Mostly it is a case of how do I switch it on.
